Overview
Mhara River Camp, Mana Pools
Mhara River Camp sits on elevated ground beneath a canopy of rain trees in a remote private concession on the southern side of Mana Pools National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, looking down over the Chitake River some 50 metres below with the wild Zambezi escarpment as a backdrop.
Six luxury tents, each with an en-suite bathroom, are spaced beneath the trees for privacy, with a two-storey lounge and dining deck overlooking the riverbed for reading, birdwatching or simply following the animal traffic below. Days are built around walking safaris and game drives along the dry riverbeds and up into Chitake Gorge, with strong sightings of elephant, lion, buffalo and wild dog, alongside night drives and birding for species such as the African Pitta.
